ABOUT AMY


I am a PhD student who is passionate about workplace psychology. Although my current research focuses on workplace discrimination, I have interest in various areas related to the workplace including organizational justice and manager communication.

EDUCATION

University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario

Supervised by Dr. Ramona Bobocel, I will be examining the factors that influence how managers treat their employees. Specifically, I currently have two streams of research which examine (1) when managers do believe victim claims of mistreatment in the workplace and (2) when and why managers downplay bad news to their female employees. 2021 - 2025

PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology

University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario

Under the supervision of Dr. Ramona Bobocel, I investigated when and why managers sugar-coat (provide more interpersonal justice but less informational justice) to their female employees.

2019 - 2021

MASc in Industrial Organizational Psychology

University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta

I completed an honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Bourdage titled “Antecedents of Interviewer Perceptions of Applicant Faking.” I also worked as a research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Thomas O’Neil where I facilitated teamwork workshops with the students of the Haskayne School of Business and the Schulich School of Engineering.
